The Chicago White Sox are in a major slump right now, and it continued on Thursday afternoon in Kansas City against the Royals.

The Chicago White Sox are officially in trouble as far as the standings are concerned. The Wild Card was looking like a small possibility going into the All-Star break but since the break, they have been terrible. 0-7 since the return and things haven’t been pretty.

They always play badly in Oakland but you figured by the time they got to Kansas City to play the Royals they would get back on track. Instead, their 6-5 loss on Thursday completes a sweep of the White Sox by the Royals leaving the White Sox looking for answers.

The answer is that this is a bad team still featuring some really good players. They have the high-end skill in their starting lineup but it isn’t filled out as well as it will be in the next few years. So when you have both Eloy Jimenez and Tim Anderson out at the same time, it is going to take a toll. Once these guys get back they should be fine and they are still on track to be where they need to be as soon as next season.

Yoan Moncada stayed hot in this game, going 3/5 with a home run and two runs scored. They need Yoan to keep it up if they are going to get out of their funk. He was snubbed of the all-star game but that won’t stop him. He is the White Sox best player and he will need to be their best player for a long time.

Things are not going to get much easier from here, however, because they are now headed to one more road city before returning home to Chicago. They will play the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa and the Rays are playing some good baseball right now. Hopefully, the White Sox can continue their habit of playing good teams well and get back on track.
