Chicago White Sox: Excited for the series against the Marlins
The Chicago White Sox are finally back home for a three-game series. They will take on the Miami Marlins and look to have a good showing.
The Chicago White Sox are finally back at home for the first time since the All-Star Break! They played three straight series on the road and had a series record of 1-2. They were swept in each of the first two series on the road but got back on track against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Now another Florida team looks to slow down the White Sox as the Miami Marlins are coming to Guaranteed Rate Field. Just like the Kansas City Royals series, if you expect to win because of who you’re playing, you will get destroyed. The Miami Marlins are rebuilding and are terrible. They are in last place in the National League East with a record of 36-61. They have lost three in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten games. The White Sox need to take care of business here.
The White Sox go into the series with a record of 44-52. Nothing to be scared of as far as other teams are concerned but through 96 games in 2018, they were 33-63. That is a vast improvement from a year ago and all rational baseball fans know exactly how rebuilding goes. The White Sox also have six straight night games and eight out of ten on this homestand are at night. They also have an over .500 record of 27-23 at night and a lowly 17-29 mark during day games. It could mean something and it could mean nothing, your guess is as good as ours.
On Monday, Ivan Nova will take the ball for the White Sox as he faces Trevor Richards of the Marlins. On Tuesday, Caleb Smith will get it for Miami against Dylan Covey. In the series finale on Wednesday, Zac Gallen will take it for the Marlins as the White Sox will trot out Reynaldo Lopez. There are some interesting pitching matchups here and none of these guys have been world-beaters this season. There could be lots of runs in this series, but you never know because it’s baseball.
This is an opportunity for the White Sox to get themselves feeling good like they were going into the All-Star Break. Do not take this Marlins team lightly or you will lose. It should be an overall entertaining series for White Sox fans, especially if they take care of business.
