The Chicago White Sox are struggling, and they have the New York Mets coming to town who present an interesting challenge.

The Chicago White Sox are coming off of a miserable series that saw the Minnesota Twins win three out of four. The Twins are in first place in the division and they showed the White Sox why over the weekend. Now, the New York Mets are coming to Guaranteed Rate Field for a three-game series on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The Mets are one of the most interesting teams to follow as we approach Wednesday’s trade deadline. They have already traded two pitching prospects for Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman, yet they traded LHP Jason Vargas to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Minor League catcher Austin Bossart. They are also rumored to be trading star pitcher Noah Syndergaard before Wednesday, so we’ll see if they actually do that.

The White Sox are also a team with lots of trade rumors surrounding them. They have some really nice pieces that would be awesome rentals for teams looking to win the World Series right now. However, both teams need to forget about the distractions and just play baseball. They are both teams that have had ups and downs this season.

At 50-55, the Mets are in fourth place in a very good National League East. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games, including four straight wins. They are just a confusing team right now, so the White Sox have to be ready for a team looking to stay hot. No matter who they trade or don’t trade, there will be some good players that can hurt them at any given moment.

As of right now, Noah Syndergaard is scheduled to face Reynaldo Lopez on Tuesday night. He may or may not still be a Met by then but the White Sox have to prepare for him. Wednesday will be the battle of the aces as Mets star Jacob deGrom will face Lucas Giolito. Thursday afternoon will see Zack Wheeler face off against White Sox rookie Dylan Cease. Wheeler is also involved in trade rumors, but as mentioned before, they need to prepare for him.

This could be a fun series for both teams involved and the two teams should be coming out with a lot to prove in this one. There are some great pitchers going in this series so the offense might be limited as well, but it is up to the White Sox to get it done. Hopefully, this series will be better than last.
