The Chicago White Sox are about to play a series with the Kansas City Royals. This is a meaningless series for the standings, but playing well is big.

The Chicago White Sox are about to have a home series with the Kansas City Royals. At 63-80 the White Sox are 10.5 games ahead of the 53-91 Royals. This is a series that the White Sox should win and get themselves on a propeller to 2020. It is so important that they finish the season on a high note and a three-game series with one of the worst teams in baseball might be good for them.

This is the type of series that you would love to see guys like Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, and Tim Anderson play well. They are big keys to the future and players who are so pivotal to the team’s future success. These guys are going to have the opportunity to play against a lowly team and feel good about themselves going into the final few weeks of the season.

In the Tuesday night game, Ivan Nova is going to take the hill for the White Sox and go up against Jakob Junis from Kansas City. They are both 9-12 with relatively similar ERAs. This could be a pitching matchup that gives limited offense or it could be one that allows a whole bunch of runs. It is going to be fun to watch these two fight it out.

On Wednesday, Glenn Sparkman is going to get the ball for the Royals and he will oppose Reynaldo Lopez for the White Sox. Lopez has had an up and down year but the year has been mostly down for the 3-11 Sparkman. His ERA isn’t great at 5.97 but you would think it would be much worse based on his record. Chances are that his record says more about how bad the Royals are and not how bad he is.

For the series finale, the White Sox are going to throw ace Lucas Giolito against Jorge Lopez of the Royals. This is a matchup that the White Sox should win. It is never fair to say a team should win a baseball game because anything can happen in baseball, but an ace of Giolito’s caliber should be able to get enough offense to beat the Royals.

It has been said before and it will be said again, the White Sox need to not take this Royals team lightly. They should beat them based on the rosters but that doesn’t mean they will beat them. The White Sox need to work hard and play their game the right way and they will win. It is going to be a fun series to watch for those who are expecting the unexpected.
