The Chicago White Sox are coming along in their rebuild. They are coming for the top of the AL Central and those teams should be worried.

The Chicago White Sox are on a heater this offseason. It was clear that they needed to address some areas on the field and upgrade their pitching situation. So far, they have done that. They added Yasmani Grandal, Nomar Mazara, and Edwin Encarnacion to the starting lineup. They also added Dallas Keuchel and Gio Gonzalez to their rotation. This has the makeup of a team that can compete for a playoff spot in 2020. That should scare some of the top teams in the A.L. Central.

There seems to be some merit to the idea of the Cleveland Indians purposely getting worse to shed some payroll and retool their lineup. They are still going to be a good team in 2020 but nobody is necessarily scared of them. This should be the year that the White Sox jump them in the standings for either second place or first place.

The only team in the division that could be a bigger problem for the White Sox in 2020 is the Minnesota Twins. They won the AL Central with a record of 101-61. It was a great year by this Twins team who played the 2018-19 offseason right. They had a lot of power and had some good pitching to complement it.

The issue for them is that they really can’t expect to hit that many home runs for the second year in a row. They had career years from pretty much everyone. It doesn’t feel sustainable for them. Their pitching depth also took somewhat of a hit this offseason and they haven’t added to supplement their rotation. They have three reliable starters and one of them is going to miss some time.

There are Twins fans out there that believe the White Sox are a non-threat in 2020. Those people are truly mistaken because the Whtie Sox are coming for them. The Twins are certainly capable of winning the division again but to say that you aren’t at all concerned about the White Sox is just plain negligent. The White Sox are absolutely capable of catching them this year if they rise to the occasion and Minnesota declines a little bit. The White Sox are definitely on the heels of the Twins going into 2020. It is all up to them to live up to it.
