The Chicago White Sox are a long way from being a perfect team. They could really use a utility infielder and there are still some good ones available.

The Chicago White Sox missed out on returning Yolmer Sanchez to the south side. Sanchez signed a contract that is bringing him out west to play for the San Francisco Giants. He wouldn’t have gotten as much playing time with the White Sox as he has had in the recent past so maybe it is for the betterment of both parties. He was a great defensive player for Chicago in his time here and that part of his game will certainly be missed.

It is expected that Nick Madrigal will be brought up to play second base at some point this season. He is also a stout second baseman defensively. The difference between him and Yolmer is that he is expected to be a very good hitter. He isn’t as much of a power guy but his average and walk rate has been good throughout his life. There is plenty of reason to be excited for Madrigal’s arrival to the Major Leagues.

In the event of an injury, there needs to be some backup help everywhere on the infield. There is already Leury Garcia and Danny Mendick there that can be options but they probably aren’t the best suited. It would be better if they could add some extra utility infield help via free agency. There are still some options out there to look at this late in the offseason. All of the top players are pretty much gone, but these three players would be the best fit for the White Sox:
