. 3B. Chicago White Sox. Yoan Moncada. 1. player. 128

Most Valuable Player

Yoan Moncada took a major step forward in 2019. He wasn’t very good in 2018 as far as the hype that surrounded him as the top prospect in all of baseball. Then when 2019 came around he started to live up to the hype. He had the third-best batting average in the entire American League and his strikeouts were way down from the year before. It was a great year for Moncada as he looks to get even better.

Moncada came in 21st place in the AL MVP voting. The fact that he received votes in 2019 after his 2018 tells the story of how improved he was in one season. There is reason to believe that if he takes yet another step in 2020, an MVP could be on the horizon. Obviously, there are guys like Mike Trout currently in the American League that might have something to say about that but he could be in contention.

Moncada being in the conversation could depend on team success as well. If the White Sox don’t live up to the hype then Moncada might not be as recognized no matter how good of a season he has. The White Sox having lots of team success with Moncada leading the way could get him in the MVP conversation. Him being in the top three would be an honor for White Sox fans.
