The Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins are going to have some intense battles in 2020. They just got involved in the Mookie Betts trade.

The Chicago White Sox need to be aware of everything the Minnesota Twins do this season. They are likely going to be the team that battles hard with the White Sox to win the American League Central Division title. It is likely going to be a hard-fought battle all year long. They were involved in the Mookie Betts trade that sent him and David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The trade was nothing short of a blockbuster deal late in the offseason. Betts and Price going to Los Angeles is a big shift to the landscape of the National League. They are clearly the favorites in the NL now. Alex Verdugo went from the Dodgers to the Red Sox in the exchange. The Twins were involved as well. They sent Brusdar Graterol to the Red Sox for the Dodgers to send them Kenta Maeda.

Graterol was the Twins number three prospect before the trade so he definitely has the potential to be a good pitcher. They clearly wanted to add a starter to try and keep up with the White Sox so they jumped in the trade to bring Maeda to the Twin Cities. It is a good move for them because it adds some depth to their starting rotation.

The White Sox will have to face Maeda at different points of the season now as a result. Them getting a better pitching staff is less than ideal but that’s the way it is now. It might not be something that works out for them but they felt it was well worth the risk. This is without a doubt a trade that indirectly impacts the White Sox as well as some of the other teams in the American League. The White Sox, luckily, had one of the best offseasons in all of baseball so they just need to worry about themselves and they should be fine.
