The Chicago White Sox saw some good things happen in February. It is good to look back on the month as well as look ahead to March.

The month started off with a fellow Chicago White Sox fan named Jimmy Garoppolo playing in Super Bowl 54 for the San Francisco 49ers. After his defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, the focus turned to baseball. A few weeks later, Spring Training began for the White Sox along with other teams across Major League Baseball. When pitchers and catcher’s first reported there were a few minor injuries to report but it seems like everyone is going to be okay.

Now, the Spring Training games are well underway and we are starting to see some good stuff from certain guys. We are also starting to learn some things about some guys that we might not have known before. That is what Spring Training is for,  to see what you have with players in the organization.

One player that is starting to make a name for himself is Yermin Mercedes. He is already making a case for himself to make the Opening Day roster. There is still a lot of baseball left to be played this spring so anything can happen but he is off to a good start. If Mercedes can turn into a legit player for Chicago that would just be another boost to this organization.

Another player that might be a bit less of a surprise from this month is Luis Robert. This guy is a key piece to the future of the organization. He has come into Spring Training looking good. He has all of the power and speed you would ever want from your rookie stud center fielder. The way he is built athletically lets you know that once he figures it out at the Major League level he could really turn into a superstar.

Baseball was only a little bit back in February so there is still a lot more to learn now that March is on the horizon. There are plenty of guys battling for spots on the roster which is a good thing. This is a year with high expectations for this group and if it goes well we will be able to look back at it all starting this month. Now, we look ahead to March as Opening Day is right around the corner.
