RF. Boston Red Sox. J.D. Martinez. 1. player. 14.

If J.D. Martinez opts out of his contract with the Boston Red Sox, the White Sox should jump all over the opportunity. He will be 33 years old going into next season which isn’t too old. He would be the perfect right fielder for the White Sox as he can come in and also be an experienced veteran. The Red Sox have taken major steps back since winning the World Series in 2018. They are probably not going to have a good year in 2020 if they play so he might opt out for that reason alone.

He would be coming into the middle of a good young White Sox lineup. He has tons of power and ever since going to Boston, he has only known to hit 30 or more home runs with 100 or more RBIs. If he came to play for the White Sox, there is no doubt that he would be able to carry on that exact same success. He would have young players like Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, and Eloy Jimenez hitting in front of him which would really help.

If the White Sox were able to add that sort of power to their organization, even on a short term deal, it would provide even more offensive depth than they already have. He is an opposite-field specialist which might also really be good at Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox would be very wise to add this man if they can.
