One thing the White Sox can learn from each Chicago team

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are probably the least successful out of all the Chicago teams. The White Sox were creeping in on them for that title but it is hard to see that being the case going forward. The Bears still have a chance to get back to the playoffs in 2020 but a lot is going to need to go right. They need whichever guy who wins the starting quarterback job out of Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles to play well otherwise it will be another mediocre season.

Football and baseball are two completely different sports but each of them is a game that can have teams be one dimensional. The Bears were very one dimensional in 2019 as they had one of the best defenses in the National Football League despite having an offense that was straight-up awful. They went 8-8 but it felt like they were 3-13 because they had Super Bowl expectations going into the season.

The White Sox can learn from this. Like football, there are two dimensions to baseball. There are offensive and defensive dimensions in both sports. The White Sox know that they need to be able to hit and pitch/play defense in order to win lots of baseball games. If one of those things isn’t going well, they need to fix it because they won’t win as a one-dimensional team.
