The Chicago White Sox and the rest of the MLB are without baseball this Independence Day but have no fear, it will be back.

For fans of baseball, the Fourth of July is a very special day for a lot of reasons. For one, it is America’s Independence Day. Second of all, Major League Baseball is played by every team with special uniforms and traditions. Well, that just isn’t going to be the case this season. COVID-19 has delayed the start of baseball and we won’t get to watch the Chicago White Sox or anyone else this year.

It is a heavy loss but life will go on. The White Sox and the rest of the MLB have worked out an agreement on a 60 game season that will begin later in July. As long as the coronavirus doesn’t shut everything down (again) at some point, that is a reason to be very excited. It is a shame that we won’t be watching our team today but we can think about the future.

On the Fourth of July, there are other ways to celebrate baseball. For one, you can start to get ready for the upcoming season. There are some very intriguing storylines about this 60 game season and how it is going to help or hurt some teams. We have a very nice roster here on the South Side of Chicago and they could very well have a nice season.

Another classic way to be a baseball fan on this day is by watching the movie “The Sandlot”. That movie and this holiday go together so well. There, of course, is the one scene where they play baseball under the 4th of July fireworks which is an all-time scene in regards to this holiday. No matter how old we get, that scene will still always take us back to the first time we watched the movie and celebrated the wonderful game of baseball.

Edwin Encarnacion is going to be a great DH for the Sox. light. Hot

A lot of us have had to go through some really hard times over the past few months. Well, use today to reflect on it and how you can use it to start getting yourself excited again for the sport to come back. This might not be a normal season but there is still a lot of intrigue for it.
