The Chicago White Sox have released their 30-man roster for the 60 games shortened MLB season.

The Chicago White Sox have released their 30 man roster for the 2020 season. It isn’t exactly a normal year as they have a slightly expanded roster and a taxi-squad in Schaumburg but they like what they have for this 60 game sprint to the postseason. The White Sox believe this is a group that can be in the playoffs and when you look at the roster, it makes a whole lot of sense. Hopefully, they can live up to these expectations.

  • Aaron Bummer

Those are 30 players who can help this team in different ways. There are some notable omissions, however. The first one is Nomar Mazara. He is going to be the White Sox right-fielder when he gets back but he is on the injured list. They have not announced why he is out but he is out and will be missed. When he gets back, it should be a nice boost to the starting lineup.

Yermin Mercedes is not on the roster which is interesting. He had a brilliant Spring Training before it was canceled and was noticeable at times during Summer Camp. He might get a chance to play at some point this year but for now, McCann, Collins, and Grandal are the catchers on the roster.

Nick Madrigal is not on the team which may come as a surprise to some but it shouldn’t. The White Sox are going to wait a week to bring him up so they can have an extra year of control. You don’t have to like the rule but it is the rule and the White Sox not having Madrigal for six games to get him for an extra year is totally worth it. When he is ready, he will be the best option the White Sox have at the second base position and it isn’t close.

Can Joc Pederson be available for the White Sox?. light. Hot

It is exciting to have baseball back in our lives. Hopefully, the White Sox are able to be a pretty good team and have a chance at making the playoffs. A lot of things need to go right for a lot of teams to make the playoffs and the White Sox are no different. There are many great players on this roster and they certainly have a chance to have a memorable season.
