Chicago White Sox: Luis Robert leads team into Kansas City
Luis Robert leads the Chicago White Sox into Kansas City to play the Royals.
The Chicago White Sox didn’t have the best start they could have had as they only won two of their first six games. They were, however, playing the two best opponents in their division. The Minnesota Twins have an outstanding starting lineup and the Cleveland Indians have great pitching. Well, they have a chance to start a winning streak as they head to play the Kansas City Royals tonight. Luis Robert has been amazing so far in his young MLB career and he leads the way into the series.
Robert has a six-game hitting streak to start the season for the White Sox. That, already, is an incredible feat for a rookie. He has eight hits total with four RBIs and one home run. His slash line of .348/.375/.522 is impressive through the first six games. There are still 54 more to go so it will obviously come down a little bit but it is great that he began this season with a lot of hope and is living up to it.
He is also incredible in the field. Sometimes, he even has too much range out there. He has the tendency to catch fly balls that don’t belong to him. His range, however, will prove to be more of a positive than a negative in the not so distant future. It is exciting to see him in the lineup each and every day but now we just need to see Rick Renteria move him up.
The Royals are a rebuilding team but the White Sox needs to put their foot on the gas. This is a big series for them to try and make up for a sorry first week of the season. They have other guys like Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, and Eloy Jimenez hitting the ball well so it will be fun to watch them all get going here.
Dallas Keuchel, Gio Gonzalez, and Dylan Cease are the scheduled starters for the White Sox in this series. It is going to be interesting to see all three of those guys for different reasons. Keuchel needs to repeat his performance from his first game and Cease needs to turn his around. For Gonzalez, he is making his first start as a member of the White Sox after being drafted by them over ten years ago. This should be a series that is a lot of fun to watch for White Sox fans.
