The Chicago White Sox have Carlos Rodon injured and they need someone to replace him.

When Reynaldo Lopez went down, it was pretty clear that Gio Gonzalez would take his spot for the Chicago White Sox. Now, Carlos Rodon is out with shoulder soreness and we don’t know when or if he is coming back. It is very sad that Rodon keeps getting injured because he had such a high ceiling when he was drafted. He also showed at times that he could be a very good pitcher but the injuries have kept him from taking that next step.

Before Lucas Giolito rose to the top or they had Dallas Keuchel, it was thought that Rodon would eventually be their ace once the rebuild was complete. They also thought he’d be a great number three after Chris Sale and Jose Quintana before the rebuild even began. At this point, his White Sox career may or may not be over already but the show is going to go on.

They need to announce a starter for Saturday here soon. Gonzalez is going on Thursday and Dylan Cease is up for Friday. They need to have someone start the game vs the Cleveland Indians that can get the job done in his place. Assuming that Reynaldo Lopez isn’t back by then, there are still some good options for that start. The White Sox are pretty injured right now but one thing we’ve been very excited about lately is their depth. Hopefully, if one of these three guys can step in a play well, they won’t miss a beat without Rodon.
