Chicago White Sox: Bats wake up and lead to big victory
The Chicago White Sox finally had their bats wake up after a little bit of a slump.
The Chicago White Sox had a big lesson handed to them after their six-game winning streak came to an end. They lost three straight going into this game and they knew that they needed to wake up. This is a young team that needs to put their best effort on the field every single day otherwise they will fall out of it quickly. Dallas Keuchel addressed the team after a bad effort on Monday night and it seems to have worked.
Eloy Jimenez got the ball rolling in the first inning when his three-run home run got the team out to a 4-0 lead. They would eventually hold that lead all the way to an 8-4 victory. That was exactly what the doctor ordered after a very bad game the night before. Hopefully, they are able to take this momentum forward for the rest of the season. They aren’t going to win every single game but they can play well on most nights regardless of the result.
If they are able to score runs as they did on Tuesday night, they should be able to support their pitchers very well. Gio Gonzalez feels like a question mark every time he takes the ball but he was pretty good in this game. He did exactly what you need to do as a starter to win a baseball game and his offense supported him. It was really nice to see guys like Jimenez, Jose Abreu, and Edwin Encarnacion amongst others create offense for their guy.
This is just a minor step towards playing well for a long stretch of games. They need to keep this up and hope that their pitching can match what they are doing in the batter’s box. They have a chance to take the series from the Tigers today when they play the rubber match. It is an afternoon game when Dylan Cease goes against Matthew Boyd. This should be a really fun game between the two teams looking to stay afloat in the AL Central.
