The Chicago White Sox earned a huge win thanks to the bat of Elo0y Jimenez.
It seems like in every Chicago White Sox win, there is a hero that steps up. There are also individual performances that stand out above the rest a lot of the time. With Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson both in the MVP conversation and Luis Robert as the leader for Rookie of the Year, those three get that honor a lot. One elite hitter on the team that is just as good as those guys is Eloy Jimenez. When he hits a home run, there is no better feeling for White Sox fans.
In Friday night’s comeback win over the Detroit Tigers, Jimenez gets the gold star. He hit a three-run home run to put the White Sox ahead 4-3. It was the final blow that ended up being the final score of the ballgame. With the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians playing each other right now, it is so important that the White Sox keep winning against the Tigers.
With Lucas Giolito on the mound, you would expect that it would be a cruise to a victory with ease. Well, he was good early on but he had one tough inning that allowed the Tigers to take a 3-0 and Casey Mize was awesome for Detroit. Without this home run from Jimenez, they wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of a Lucas Giolito start and Cleveland loss.
There were no fans in the stands to enjoy this big home run but we all know everyone was excited from home. It was his 12th of the season which has him amongst the league leaders in 2020. This one is probably the biggest because it gave his team a huge win and it decreased their magic number to nine. They are so close to the playoffs now that everyone is starting to get a little bit excited. Every win is them being that much closer to a berth and even a possible division title. Eloy’s big home run will be remembered as a big step to that and hopefully, there are many more big moments ahead of us.
