White Sox Video: Yasmani Grandal continues to stay hot
The Chicago White Sox need Yasmani Grandal to continue mashing baseballs.
The Chicago White Sox came so close to defeating the Oakland Athletics in their second game of the three-game series. They didn’t have a lot of breaks go their way and they still had the tying run in scoring position in the ninth inning. The hope is that they can carry some of that into the next game. One of the big reasons they had a chance to win the game was the play of Yasmani Grandal.

He hit a baseball to pluto with a man on base to get the White Sox on the board. He truly started the rally that we would eventually see fall just short in the ninth inning. It was the second straight postseason game in which he hit a home run. They made a big financial commitment to him in the offseason and he is rewarding them for it now. They didn’t win the game but they can be confident that he can bring more offense to the next game.
He also walked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to get the White Sox within two and bring up Jose Abreu. It was a great performance from him on the big stage and one the White Sox are hoping they can get more in the next game and beyond.

We don’t know how Grandal will be utilized in the next game but it is fair to assume that he will be at the plate hitting in the starting lineup. It will either be as the starting catcher or as the designated hitter if they decide to use James McCann behind the plate. No matter what decision is made, the White Sox need to make sure that Grandal is feeling good and ready to contribute to a big win. Hopefully, his teammates can start to hit as he has been.
