The Chicago White Sox should consider Aaron Loup in free agency.

The Chicago White Sox are going to be a busy team this offseason. They have to hire a manager and they have to continue adding talent. Well, there might not be a better team in the American League to look at than the Tampa Bay Rays. That team knows what they are doing and win a lot of baseball games with limited money flexibility. One player that they have available is a reliever, Aaron Loup. Loup would be a great addition to the Chicago White Sox in free agency.

The Rays are returning most of their team in 2021 but Loup might be on his way out as a free agent. He is 32 and will be 33 by the start of next season. He was with the Toronto Blue Jays for seven years before two short stints with the  Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres before that one year with the Rays.

Loup and the Rays were just defeated in the 2020 World Series by the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was a tough way for it to end for Tampa Bay but they were a great team all season long. If Loup wanted to move on following that tough series loss, the White Sox would be a great place for him.

His career ahead of 2020 in terms of numbers was up and down but he was awesome with the Rays. If he can repeat some of that again in 2021, the White Sox would love to have him. The reliever made 24 appearances in 2020 and a total of 25.0 innings. He had an ERA of 2.52, 0.840 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts over that stretch. It was a great year for him and bringing that to a White Sox bullpen would be awesome.

If the Rays decide to move on from Loup, the White Sox seem like a team where he would be a good fit. He would know that the White Sox are serious about contending for the World Series in 2021 and that he would get a big roll in the bullpen.

Hot. Now that the World Series is over, it is time to hire a manager. light

There are studs that would be around him to take the pressure off like Aaron Bummer, Evan Marshall, Codi Heuer, and Matt Foster so his addition would make that group even better. There is also the potential for Alex Colome to return as the closer so this bullpen is an arm or two away from being one of the best in the league. Adding a guy like Loup would really help them use that bullpen to the best of their ability.
