The Chicago White Sox hired the best possible pitching coach that they could have hired.

The Chicago White Sox made the decision to part ways with Don Cooper the day that they let Rick Renteria go as manager. Cooper had been with the White Sox for a very long time but they felt it was time to move on. Well, they replaced him with the best possible person they could have brought in for their situation. Ethan Katz is going to do magical things for the talented pitchers that the White Sox have coming up.

Ethan Kats was the assistant pitching coach for the San Francisco Giants. He was a minor league coach prior to his time with the Giants, who were the first Major League team that he worked with. He is going to work with, as of right now, Tony La Russa to get this White Sox staff and bullpen to reach their max potential.

The cool part about Katz is that he was Lucas Giolito‘s high school pitcher and is his personal offseason pitching coach. He gets a lot of credit for helping Giolito change things up ahead of 2019. With some help from Katz, Giolito went from the worst pitcher in all of baseball to one of the very best pitchers in the American League. For that reason alone, you have to believe that he is going to be one of the better hires that the organization has made.

The thing we would like to see from Katz goes beyond Giolito. There are players like Michael Kopech, Dylan Cease, and Garrett Crochet amongst others that all need some help before reaching their potential as Giolito did. If that happens, this is going to be one of the nastiest pitching staffs in the league. Giolito is just one example of the many pitchers he has helped grow. For his work, he is a really well-regarded coach within the industry.

Hot. The Chicago White Sox should consider Trevor Bauer. light

He gets to come to this White Sox team that is loaded on all accounts. We saw just a glimpse of what this offense can do during the short 60 games 2020 season. If the pitching staff beyond Giolito and Keuchel were able to reach that potential, we are talking about a real World Series contender. Aside from some of the other distractions going on with the White Sox right now, fans should be pleased with this A+ hire.
