Chicago White Sox: Current state of the organization

The New Guys
The Chicago White Sox gave catcher Yasmani Grandal the largest contract in the organization’s history and signed former Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel to a three-year deal. Grandal had a rocky start in his first season with the White Sox but got better as the season progressed. He was a participant in the four home runs in a row game, slashed .230/.351/.422, played great defense for the team and was even a finalist for the Gold Glove award. Although fans would love to keep McCann, Grandal looks to be the number one catcher for the foreseeable future.
Keuchel also played exceptionally well in his first season with the White Sox. He tossed just over 63 innings, had an ERA of 1.99, and finished the season with six wins and two losses. Although he had a rocky postseason appearance for the Sox, expect him to come back better next season.
After getting a taste of the postseason in 2020, the organization now has its eyes set on a championship. The team moved on from Manager Rick Renteria and long time pitching coach Don Cooper and completely revamped their coaching staff. The organization brought in Hall of Famer Tony La Russa to lead the team and hired the man who helped Lucas Giolito become an ace and his former High School coach, Ethan Katz. LaRussa also brought on Miguel Cairo to be the new bench coach and even brought on an analytics coordinator in Shelley Duncan, answering the questions on how accepting La Russa would be of analytics.
Expect them to at least attempt to land one of the top talents in 2020’s free-agent pool. Rumors and speculation have swirled around outfielders George Springer and Joc Pederson along with starting pitcher Trevor Bauer. They all will have multiple suitors but after seeing the potential of this team, who wouldn’t be excited to join them? Expect them to at least attempt to land one of the top talents in 2020’s free-agent pool.
