The Chicago White Sox should trade for Joe Musgrove of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Chicago White Sox should seriously be looking to add one more starting pitcher to their rotation just in case. They already have Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel, and Lance Lynn ready to form a three-headed monster at the top of the rotation but the bottom two spots are anyone’s game. Most people assume that Dylan Cease is going to get one of them and Michael Kopech could also have a chance. Either way, one more guy would help them in the short term as they try to ease Kopech back in.

Jon Heyman of MLB network put it out there earlier today that Joe Musgrove is available and drawing interest. It would be a great fit for the White Sox as they try to become the American League Central champions and try to make a run in the playoffs. He would fit in great with the current White Sox rotation as they try to become one of the best in the league.

He had a good year in 2020 despite being a poor Pittsburgh Pirates team. He only had a 1-5 record because they were so bad but he had a personal Wins Above Replacement of 0.5. He had a 3.86 ERA and a WHIP of 1.235. That ERA was the best in his career so you have to believe he wants to be on a good team once again.

He does know what it is like on a good team as he was on the 2017 World Series Champion Houston Astros. The Astros sent Musgrove along with Michael Feliz, Jason Martin, and Colin Moran to the Pirates in exchange for Gerrit Cole. It has been a wild ride for him so far in his career but being traded to a good team might be really good for him and his career.

Hot. A White Sox vs Padres World Series would be awesome. light

This would also be a good move for the White Sox because they would be adding another good pitcher to the group, leaving Tony La  Russa with many options to form a very good rotation. He has been good in recent years but needs a chance to get out of Pittsburgh as they rebuild. The fit in Chicago just makes sense.
