The Chicago White Sox have a good chance to win their division after the Francisco Lindor trade.
We want the Chicago White Sox to win their division at all costs. Of course, there are other good teams that have a chance to win it usually but the Cleveland Indians did something to decrease their chances. They traded Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco to the New York Mets. It is a significant trade in Major League Baseball as a superstar is being traded to a team that is trying to win along with a very good pitcher.
The Mets are enjoying their new owner and the benefits are starting to show. They recently signed former White Sox catcher James McCann along with some other additions. Lindor is going to be a part of a really good infield that hopes to be a part of a good starting lineup. The addition of Carrasco should help them have one of the best rotations in baseball. He is going to be with Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, and Marcus Stroman. That is one very good rotation.
As for Cleveland, they are getting Ahmed Rosario and Andres Gimenez along with two other Minor League prospects. This is a trade that makes them a worse baseball team. Let’s be clear, Lindor is a superstar, and trading him doesn’t make you better. In addition to Lindor being a superstar, Carrasco is a very good pitcher. They wanted to move salary going into 2021 and they have officially done that.
The White Sox really need to take advantage of this situation. The Minnesota Twins are losing a lot of players to free agency and the Indians are actively making themselves a worse baseball team. The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals are far away from competing so this is the White Sox time to shine. They need to see this window of opportunity and do their best to take advantage of it. Hopefully, they sign a closer, figure out the designated hitter issue, and win the division in 2021.
