The Chicago White Sox are looking good to be the best team in the American League Central for 2021. They have a loaded starting lineup that is going to score plenty of runs, a starting rotation that has the potential to be one of the best, and a bullpen that is a closer away from being elite. If they can get that closer (they are involved in many rumors), they will really be set to compete for the World Series in 2021. As of now, their odds of winning the AL Central are looking really good.
The Detroit Tigers have a lot of great young prospects. The problem is that they are a long way off from actually competing for the division. The Royals are even further behind them so that is two out of five teams that really won’t have a chance to win for a few years. The Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins are clearly the two teams on the White Sox radar going into 2021.
The Indians were just involved in a major blockbuster trade. They sent Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco to the New York Mets in a six-player deal. It is a move that saves them a lot of money but it certainly isn’t a trade that makes them a better baseball team. It is hard to imagine them being that much of an issue for the White Sox going forward. They will still be a good team but the White Sox are better (on paper) in every way.
The Minnesota Twins have been the best team in the division for a couple of years in a row now. That reign seems like it is going to come to an end, however. They have stayed pretty steady over this offseason and there is real potential for them to lose some key free agents. Jake Odorizzi, Nelson Cruz, Eddie Rosario, and Marwin Gonzalez are all players who might be gone. Those losses would make them a significantly worse team.

The White Sox are in a good spot right now. There are still things that need to happen for them to truly become a World Series contender across the rest of baseball. It starts by being a contender for your division and getting to the playoffs so the White Sox should feel good about that part. It is time for them to show the world on the field that they are the best team in their division.
