The Chicago White Sox fit Trevor Bauer’s four free agent needs
The Chicago White Sox seem to fit the needs of Trevor Bauer in free agency.
The Chicago White Sox, in a lot of people’s minds, don’t have a shot at Trevor Bauer. That may or may not be true but it shouldn’t be true for no reason at all. The White Sox have a lot of money to spend on their roster so they should at least be in on Bauer’s services. He is an interesting guy on and off the field but most importantly, he is one of the best pitchers in the world.
Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020 because of how dominant he was. He had a 1.73 ERA, 0.795 WHIP, 100 strikeouts, and a 2.7 WAR over 73 innings pitched (11 starts). It was a dominant year at the perfect time as he is looking to get paid big time.
We all know by now that Bauer is active on social media as he tries to push his brand. He also uses his platform to let fans be more involved in what goes on during the life of a Major League Baseball player. It has gotten very interesting for White Sox fans lately as he has started to talk about them more. With the signing of Liam Hendriks, the Sox have been in the news and Bauer has been talking about it.
He also makes a new YouTube video for his channel with regularity. His latest one should make White Sox fans think a little bit. In this video, he went into heavy detail about the four things that he is looking for in the team that signs him. There are plenty of things to think about here but the White Sox are absolutely capable of meeting all four of these criteria.
If he agrees and they show him that they can meet these criteria, they would be the perfect match for him. It might be a long shot right now as nobody knows what his true intentions are but the White Sox make too much sense for him.
The Chicago White Sox and Trevor Bauer would make a great MLB partnership.
For the first little bit of the video, Trevor Bauer talked about a partnership with his new team. He wants to be able to work with them on his craft which means both sides can bring things to the table on how to better his performance. If he came to the White Sox, that would be quite easy with some of their new additions to the staff. Tony La Russa is the new manager who probably wouldn’t mess with Bauer too much but Ethan Katz is the perfect pitching coach.
With Katz, Bauer might be able to work towards something that can make him even better than he already is. He has already proved that he can work well with elite talent and that was before he ever made it as a coach in Major League Baseball. He coached guys like Max Fried, Jack Flaherty, and White Sox own Lucas Giolito in high school and he has helped a guy like Giolito turn his career around in the offseason of 2018-19.
The way Bauer represents himself off the field would also be encouraged by the White Sox. When you look around the league, it is hard to find a team that publically had more fun. They made videos of themselves dancing and having fun after wins and we all know about how guys like Tim Anderson have been known to express themselves. This is one major key for him and it is absolutely something the White Sox can provide him.
The Chicago White Sox have great fans and players on their team that Trevor Bauer would love.
The Chicago White Sox have a fantastic fanbase. They are not even the biggest fanbase in the city of Chicago but they are the most passionate by far. The White Sox fans love their team wholeheartedly and want them to win at all costs. Sharing the city of Chicago with the Chicago Cubs feeds White Sox fans because we are tired of seeing the Cubs be more popular.
Trevor Bauer would love that fan rivalry. A lot of MLB rivalries are fed by the teams but this one is by the fans and Bauer would embrace it hard. He has also had issues with the Cubs in the past so playing for their crosstown rival would really make fans embrace him. They are also willing to back their players as much as they can.
As far as teammates, the White Sox provide some good ones. There are a lot of elite ones on the field every day and he would be surrounded by some on the pitching staff. Big personalities like Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, and Lucas Giolito would be great with a guy like Bauer as they look to grow their brands as well. Tim Anderson and Trevor Bauer have had online exchanges in the past as well and it is clear that they would get along as teammates.
The Chicago White Sox are an organization that proved they are about to do a lot of winning.
Trevor Bauer made a big statement when listing things that are going into his decision. One of the most noticeable ones was the fact that he wants to join a team that is trying to win a World Series. He mentions that his career is way too short to be on a team that considers rebuilding. Well, the White Sox are on the other side of a very successful rebuild that is a Trevor Bauer-like player away from being a World Series champion. They might be good enough without him so adding him would be so sweet.
What makes the White Sox a winner? Well, in 2020 they made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. They did it because they scored a lot of runs with studs like Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson leading the way. Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, and Yoan Moncada amongst others are also there and those five should be the team’s best hitters for a long time. They also have what looks like an elite rotation that includes pitchers like Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, and Dallas Keuchel.
On top of that, their bullpen is so amazing. That comes after the addition of Liam Hendriks was made a few days ago. If Bauer joined a staff like that, they would be the best in the American League if they aren’t already. It has to be clear to him that this team is locked and loaded ready to win the World Series.
They have also shown the world that they are committed to winning now. They have made major trades, major free agent signings, and additions to their farm that show that they are in this for the long haul. Trevor Bauer’s hope of joining a “winning franchise” absolutely puts the White Sox in contention.
The White Sox have plenty of money to go around for a guy like Trevor Bauer.
The Chicago White Sox are a team that hasn’t spent much money over the history of their organization. That has started to change a little bit, however. It is clear that the team is committed to winning and has been ready to add what they need. There have been a few “cheap routes” taken by the organization (Adam Eaton) but they have also shelled out big money for guys like Liam Hendriks, Dallas Keuchel, and Yasmani Grandal who were all top free agents at their time of signing.
Trevor Bauer would finally be that huge free-agent signing. He states in his video that he does want to be fairly compensated for what he brings to a team. He also claims that he will use the money to grow the brand and make baseball a better place. At this point, it is fair to believe him. It is also fair to assume that his asking price is high. He hit free agency after a 2020 season in which he dominated as much as any player in the history of the league. It was only a 60 game season but we know how good he is. It wasn’t his first big year like that.
The White Sox have that type of money to spend. For them, it would be deciding if it is worth it to spend that type of money. It seems like it would be worth it because having four aces makes it really hard to beat them in a seven-game series which is ultimately what they are trying to achieve. Spending this money on Trevor Bauer would really help put them over the edge.
It would also complete all of the things that he is looking for with the team he is signing with. It would be really cool to see something get done between the White Sox and Bauer. As good as it would make them on the field, it would improve their reputation off the field. It is about time that people start seeing the White Sox as a true threat in the American League.
