We finally made it, Chicago White Sox fans! Mayor Lori Lightfoot has announced that both Chicago baseball teams can have fans return to the stands on Opening Day. Of course, nobody has attended a game as a fan since the end of the 2019 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been very tough but it taught us a lot. We learned that through thick and thin, we can support our team. We watched the White Sox take a big leap forward in 2020 on our televisions and now 2021 looms. With World Series expectations, it will be fun to get fans back!
We are finally going to watch an elite Chicago White Sox team in person.
The White Sox have a gradual reopening plan according to NBC Sports Chicago’s own Chuck Garfien. Opening Day will start us off at a 20 percent capacity which is about 8,122 people. As people start to get vaccinated and the numbers come down even more the capacity should start to increase. It makes sense to make determinations as the season goes along.
As for White Sox fans, it has been tough. This team was not good for over a decade and right when the sun started to shine the pandemic hit. Now, as fans start to hit the stands again, we can be excited about the future of the team. We will get to see in person just how good this team can be right in front of our eyes.
Most of us haven’t had the chance to see Luis Robert, Yasmani Grandal, Nick Madrigal, or Dallas Keuchel play for the White Sox in person. It seems weird but it is true. It is encouraged to never take it for granted once you are back in the stands because you just never know. 2020 was a tough year for a lot of people so it is good to get baseball back to try and help heal. This team is going to be so good right in front of our eyes so buckle up!
It's official. The city announces that fans will be allowed back in the seats in 2021 at Guaranteed Rate and Wrigley Field to start the season. It's a gradual reopening plan, starting at 20% capacity, which for the White Sox is 8,122 fans.

Folks, we've significantly slowed the spread of COVID, getting our positivity rate down to 2.8%. And now, we can begin to safely welcome fans back to our baseball stands on opening day. Although we’re reopening, masking is still of utmost importance. 😷⚾ pic.twitter.com/pkGnMDkSUc

The White Sox will have updated health and safety measures as the season goes along as well. It is important to have those things as we try to get back to full capacity and enjoy our team again. It has been a long time coming but we are finally going to be able to enter the gates and watch a World Series level team play at Guaranteed Rate Field!
