Eloy Jimenez might have his demons when it comes to defensive leftfield but there is no doubt that he is one of the most important players in the entire Chicago White Sox organization. You sacrifice a left-fielder making a spectacular play for a bat like that ten out of ten times. He is also just so much fun to watch because of his personality so that makes it even better. He has the talent to be one of the best hitters in the league and could lead the world in home runs one day (if not now).

When he was a rookie, he was as polished of a hitter as any prospect the White Sox have ever had. He can hit baseballs to Mars but he also hits for contact well too. He is a guy who can have 50 home runs, 100 RBIs, and a 300 batting average in a good year. His bat legitimately has Hall of Fame potential. It is a steep hill to climb but he can do it.

When he arrived in 2019, he had a slow start and two somewhat long stints on the injured list and still managed to hit 31 home runs. Then, in 2020, he lowkey had one of the best seasons of any hitter at the plate. He won the Silver Slugger with a slash line of .296/.332/.559, an OPS of .891, 14 home runs, and 41 RBIs in 60 games.

There is no doubt that he will have that type of production again in 2021 and potentially even better. Well, he got the home run portion of his exhibition season underway on Thursday night when he crushed a baseball off the scoreboard at the Cincinnati Reds spring training park. It was a mammoth home run and he is going to do a whole lot of that during the season.

As you can see, Jimenez can just crush it off the scoreboard if he wants. He is well protected in this Chicago White Sox lineup so he will surely see some good pitches to hit this year. If you pitch around Eloy Jimenez because you are scared of his power, that’s cool. Good luck dealing with one of Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, Yasmani Grandal, or Luis Robert right after him with a man on base.

That won’t be the last time you come across a video of Jimenez crushing a baseball that far. It is going to be a common occurrence for him this season. There is no doubt that watching him both on and off the field is going to be so fun in 2021.
