The Chicago White Sox has a problem. Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert would have combined for a lot of offense in 2021 if they would have stayed healthy. Well, they are not healthy which going to force the White Sox to rely on other people to replace that production. Everyone wants them to make a move to supplement things which is fair. They should try and do that but Ozzie Guillen made a great point on how to replace the production during Tuesday’s pregame show.
The Chicago White Sox can get help if they listen to Ozzie Guillen’s comments.
Ozzie Guillen’s point is that if their current sleeping giants wake up, the offense will be just fine. You can’t replace power like Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez but they need more from guys like Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada, and Yasmani Grandal. They have all had their good moments so far this season but they need more.
In the case of Abreu, we know it is going to come. He has had a few slow Aprils in his career but has always turned it on. He is the reigning AL MVP so we know what he is capable of when he is feeling it. He already has a couple of grand slams and big home runs so far this season but we have come to expect more.
Yasmani Grandal makes a big paycheck because he was a good hitting catcher in his day. He gets on base at a pretty good clip but he needs to hit the ball more. They rely on him to be a good bat in the middle of the order so getting better is a big key for him.
As for Yoan Moncada, he has had flashes of brilliance so far this season as well. He is an elite defensive third baseman so if the bat can get to the level that we know it can, they will be just fine as an offensive group. When all three of these guys are at the top of their game, they are good enough to be American League All-Stars.
Ozzie Guillen knows a thing or two about what it takes to deal with adversity. These three are going to come along and get this offense going. They already have a top offense in Major League Baseball based on the numbers and it still feels like they haven’t fully gotten going yet. That is scary for the rest of the league if they actually hit their potential.
