The Chicago White Sox are 16-13 and tied for first place in the American League Central. They also have the best-run differential in the division by far. They are the best team on paper, even with the injuries. They have a chance to show that this weekend against one of the teams they are fighting with for the top of the division right now in the Kansas City Royals. It should be a great weekend for baseball as the White Sox head down to play them there.

The Chicago White Sox would love to take a big series over the Kansas City Royals.

Of course, not many even had the Royals being a good team through this point of the season. Even fewer believe they will keep it up. They have already started to slide and now the White Sox have a chance to take over first place for good. This three-game weekend series should do wonders for that.

You might remember Brad Keller. He is the guy who threw at Tim Anderson after Anderson bat flipped a home run off of him. Keller has since become the arch-rival of the White Sox and their fans. The White Sox have had tremendous success off of him ever since that incident so the hope is that this game is no different. Carlos Rodon will oppose him on the Sox mound.

Games two and three have a built-in advantage for the White Sox. They will face Daniel Lynch and Mike Minor who are both left-handed pitchers. The White Sox love facing lefties as they normally have their way with them. Lance Lynn and Lucas Giolito will be on the mound for the good guys as they try to win a huge series. On paper, it is a pitching advantage that favors the White Sox by a lot.

Nobody should ever go into a pro-sports series believing that they should win just because they are a better team. The White Sox are a better team but they need all hands on deck to win. If they do, they should be able to take care of the Royals. To be honest, sweeping them isn’t impossible but it also can’t be expected. The pitching matchups look nice and the White Sox offense is sure to be angry following their blanking.

If the White Sox come out of this series in first-place all by themselves, they will be in good shape for the rest of the season. This is a team that believes that they can win the World Series when healthy. They have shown that they are still very good without two of their best players (Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez) so imagine what they can do when they are both in the lineup. It all starts this weekend.
