The Chicago White Sox are coming off a strange series with the Cleveland Indians. They split a doubleheader on Monday and then lost to Shane Bieber on Tuesday. They were heavy favorites on Wednesday as Lance Lynn was going to face a kid making his MLB debut for Cleveland but it was postponed due to weather. Now, they are home for four games against the Detroit Tigers. It is a series that the White Sox needs to take advantage of.

It is a tight race with Cleveland atop the Central Division of the American League. They get the Baltimore Orioles this weekend so the White Sox may need to keep up with Cleveland because they are significantly better than Baltimore. It would be nice, however, to see Baltimore keep their momentum going after a nice series win over the Minnesota Twins.

The Chicago White Sox needs to take care of business against the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers may not be quite as bad as the Orioles but they are close. It is a four-game series that the White Sox needs to take advantage of. They are better than the Tigers on paper in every way. As Detroit showed against the Yankees, however, if you don’t play well they can beat you. The White Sox have been great against Detroit and great at home for a little while now so it would be nice to see that continue.

In game one, Lance Lynn is going to face Casey Mize. The White Sox have played Mize well so far in his career but he has certainly started to develop. He is going to be a problem for a long time so the White Sox needs to keep finding ways to figure him out.

Dallas Keuchel is going to face Spencer Turnbull in the second game. Keuchel keeps racking up a good record as he is 4-1 but his ERA is a little high at 4.53. This is a great chance for him to feel good about his game against a Detroit lineup that lacks pop. Turnbull is having a great season so far and is another young Tigers pitcher that may be an issue for years to come.

On Saturday, Lucas Giolito is going to face Tarik Skubal. Giolito finally has his record over .500 and his ERA under four. It was a tough start for him but he is starting to look like the ace we know and love again. Skubal is the third young Tigers pitcher that the White Sox will face in this series. He hasn’t fared as well as the others yet this season so the hope is the White Sox can take care of their business against another lefty.

In the series finale, Carlos Rodon will try and keep his great season going. He wasn’t the Carlos Rodon we have become used to seeing in his last outing so he will certainly be looking to get back on track. As of right now, Detroit has not named a starter yet for this game. All in all, it should be a very fun series and one where the White Sox are able to play some good baseball.
