Chicago White Sox: An update on the American League Central
The Chicago White Sox are coming off a very good win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. The 3-0 victory clinched the 3-1 series victory. It was a hard-fought series that needed some clutch moments and good pitching. The White Sox have done that all season long and it has shown. It hasn’t been easy without two cornerstone players like Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert but now you know how dangerous the team is actually going to be when they return.
The Chicago White Sox are leading the way in the American League Central.
The American League Central isn’t the best in the league but it has five teams capable of making your life hard. Each team has its faults but they all do a good job showing up and playing hard every day. It is going to be tough for any team to come out on top of the division.
With that said, you have to like the White Sox chances just based on the roster. Their win on Sunday put them at 36-23. That is good for a four-game lead in the AL Central which is really nice for June 7th. Going into play on Monday, no first-place team has a bigger lead on the second-place team than the White Sox have over the Cleveland Indians.
Speaking of Cleveland, they were just smoked by the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The 18-5 Oriole victory is what allowed the White Sox to get up to a four-game lead. Baltimore went into the weekend with the worst record in the sport and they came out with a series win over the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland is going to play the White Sox tough all season long but the Sox should be able to walk right past them into the playoffs.
The Kansas City Royals are the only team in the Central playing on Monday as they are off to California to play the Los Angeles Angels. They are in 3rd place with a record of 29-28. Seeing them over .500 is incredible when you think about their 11 game losing streak earlier in the year. They are a nice baseball team that is going to be a problem for a lot of teams in 2021.
The Detroit Tigers are the least talented team in the division right now but A.J. Hinch has them play hard every single day. By the time everything is said and done, however, you can probably expect to find them in last pace. They are currently tied with the Minnesota Twins for last at 24-35.

Minnesota is the most surprising team of the season for all of the wrong reasons. They were supposed to be the team that the White Sox fight with for tops in the division all year long. That hasn’t been the case so far as they just don’t look good at all. They are 4-6 in their last ten and have a -35 run differential. They are, however, capable of going on a run. Don’t expect them to just roll over and die easily. They are going to battle all year long. Hopefully, the White Sox are able to get healthy and cruise their way to a division title.
