Chicago White Sox: Take the positives from Friday loss
The Chicago White Sox went into Friday night’s game following a horrible Thursday night loss. They just didn’t have it on Thursday and that is okay because it happens from time to time. They knew they would have it back together when they faced the Houston Astros in game number two. They came out much better and scored a run in the first inning. Unfortunately, that would be the last time that the White Sox scored in the ballgame.
The Chicago White Sox can take some positives from the loss on Friday night.
First of all, Carlos Rodon was sensational. He gave up one run during the entire game and had yet another incredible outing. His command was a little wack at times towards the end but he always got himself out of any jams. It was a great game for him but the offense couldn’t get him the win. As of right now, he is right there with Lance Lynn and Gerrit Cole for the American League Cy Young race.
Another positive is the fact that this is only the sixth time in 2021 that they lost a second game in a row. They have usually been very good against teams when they are coming off a loss. Every team in the league goes through a few losses in a row but it would be nice to see this train get back on track.
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates as well so the lead in the American League Central Division stays at 3.5 games. With two more against the Houston Astros, they have plenty of opportunities to right the ship in this series. The Astros are a good team that deserves respect.
The first game was one you forget about but this second one was one to take some positives from in a close game. The fact that the pitching was able to keep that sensational offense to two runs, one being the walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth, is incredible. A lot of teams across the league would sign up for pitching performances like that.
Now, the perfect man is on the mound to stop the two-game losing streak. Lance Lynn has been there all season long and he will take the ball looking to get his 8th win of the season. It is going to be fun to see him pitch in this one because they need his intensity in a game like this. If the offense scores a few runs, they should be able to get it going.
