Chicago White Sox: Lance Lynn’s comments were perfect
We are gearing up for another start from Lance Lynn this afternoon as the Chicago White Sox tries to take the series from the Minnesota Twins. They are currently 9-2 against the Twins so far this season and making it 10-2 would feel so sweet with Lance Lynn on the mound. This is going to be his last start for the White Sox before heading to Denver to play as an American League All-Star. In such a short amount of time, Lynn has become the definition of a fan favorite.
The Chicago White Sox and Lance Lynn go together more than any player on the roster.
Lance Lynn, from the second he put that uniform on, fit right in. He is the definition of a South Side player who loves the intensity that comes with playing on this team. It really helps that he is having one of the best seasons in his entire Major League career. As of right now, he is one of the clear favorites for the American League Cy Young Award.
Lynn spoke to Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago and mentioned some things that will put a smile on just about any White Sox fan’s face. He talked about how the South Side is perfect for him and his personality more than anywhere else he has played, the reception he gets to his on-field attitude, and how comfortable he feels playing in front of this crowd.
All of that was assumed but it is good to hear it come out of his mouth. Lynn is right. He is perfect for the White Sox in every way. He mentioned his attitude and personality fitting in but that also isn’t the only reason.
The Chicago White Sox went into the offseason last year knowing they needed some starting pitching to help them. Well, Lynn coming over from the Texas Rangers has provided that and then some. He also has World Series level experience which could really help a young team like this.
When Lynn takes the mound later today, all fans will go into the game believing that the team has a chance to win. All we can do is hope that he gets the offensive support that he needs because we know he is going to absolutely shove. If he helps the White Sox take yet another series from the Twins, he will be going into the All-Star break as good as you can get.
This will be Lynn’s first game throwing to Seby Zavala behind the plate. Yasmani Grandal is going to be out for a while with an injury and Zack Collins won’t be the catcher for this one. Based on his comments that we discussed, there isn’t a better pitcher to throw to Zavala for his season debut. It is hard to see anyone making him feel more comfortable behind the plate. Hearing all of this from Lynn is so great and we can only hope that he sticks around beyond this year.
