The Chicago White Sox have announced that they are going to have Eloy Jimenez back in the mix starting on Monday when they play the Kansas City Royals. Ahead of their series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tony La Russa announced that they are going to have him in the lineup as a designated hitter. This is the best news that the White Sox have had all season long. Getting back a bat like this is as good as any trade deadline they can realistically make.

Jimenez is the best pure hitter in the Chicago White Sox organization. He is capable of hitting 45+ home runs and driving in 110+ runs in a full season. He isn’t going to reach numbers like that but he could put up significant ones with slightly less than half a season remaining.

When you add a bat like that to the middle of a lineup, it can do wonders for those hitting around him as well. With Eloy likely protecting Jose Abreu in the box, you might see the MVP version of their captain once again. It should also really help players like Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, and Yasmani Grandal too.

If they are able to get him back feeling as good as he can, they should be an even better all-around team. They have managed to put together a first half that gave them a significant lead in the standings. With that, getting even better should make them one of the scarier teams in the American League.

The Chicago White Sox are clearly getting Eloy Jimenez back at the proper time.

This is the first step towards a deep playoff run. When they add back more stars like Yasmani Grandal and Luis Robert, they will be even better. Eloy’s absence hasn’t been fun but it has allowed guys like Andrew Vaughn, Gavin Sheets, and Yermin Mercedes to make an impact this season.

Now that he is back in addition to all of those guys, this team is going to be so scary. Everyone in the league should be concerned about the White Sox. They are also going to see Eloy get enough bats to be certain he is ready for the postseason. Starting at DH is good for him but you can also expect to see him in left field at certain points. The biggest thing they need from him is his at-bats. He is as important of a player as there is for them so getting him back now is refreshing.
