The Chicago White Sox are a better team with Cesar Hernandez there to help them.

The Chicago White Sox made a trade to acquire Cesar Hernandez from Cleveland at the trade deadline. Danny Mendick and Leury Garcia did okay in that role from the time that Nick Madrigal went down but they knew they needed an upgrade knowing Nick wasn’t coming back. It was also good because Cleveland gave the White Sox their second-best hitter when they were trailing them in the AL Central Division.

Since coming to the White Sox, Hernandez has been up and down with his bat. He started off really good but has cooled off a bit. He has mostly seen time hitting second but that is likely not a good idea for the playoffs in favor of Robert. Hernandez is a good player but Robert has a chance to be a superstar so that role better suits him. On Tim Anderson’s scheduled days off, Hernandez has been seen leading off as well.

There won’t be many times where Anderson has the day off in the playoffs so you can expect Hernandez down in the order for that portion of the season. You know you have a deep lineup when a guy like this is hitting seventh. He will certainly look much better in this part of the lineup. It is also nice because even down here, there is a lot of protection from those behind him.
