The Chicago White Sox had a heartbreaking loss on Monday night. It was a 2-1 final that the Toronto Blue Jays forced late in the game. It was close but you can define it as a heartbreaking game for a lot of reasons. The main reason is that the Jays won because of a Craig Kimbrel past ball that allowed a runner on third to score.

The game started with the tough news that the White Sox would be without Tim Anderson for the third straight game. He is still dealing with something in his legs so Tony La Russa is continuing to rest him up. As important as it is to make sure that he is fine, the White Sox offense is totally different with him in the lineup. He sets the tone for the big bats that come behind him.

The White Sox were able to get one run across but the Blue Jays tied it not long after due to a good at-bat by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Outside of that one run, Lance Lynn had yet another really great start. The White Sox offense wasn’t able to take advantage of Toronto pitching so the start was wasted in a way. However, Lynn is clearly in the Cy Young mix and this was another big step towards that.

One player that deserves some credit for the way that he has played is Yoan Moncada. He is on a ten-game hit streak which should silence a lot of his critics. He goes cold every now and again but so does every elite hitter who ever lived. Moncada is a great player and the White Sox are lucky to have him. They need him to continue playing well both defensively and offensively. If that happens, they will win a lot of games down the stretch.

Things aren’t getting any easier for the Chicago White Sox going forward.

The Chicago White Sox now have to play the Jays three more times. That is good news because they have three more chances to get a big win. It is tough news because the Jays are a really good team that could pull off more close wins like the one on Monday. They will take their next crack at it tonight against Jose Berrios.

White Sox fans know Berrios well. He is the former ace of the Minnesota Twins and the Jays landed him at the trade deadline. The White Sox hitters having a good game would go a long way in helping them move forward. Dylan Cease is on the mound for the White Sox so seeing him have a great road start would also be nice. This should be fun.
