The Chicago White Sox is having a sensational season. They are looking like a legit threat going into the playoffs as a threat to win the American League. There are some really tough teams that they are going to have to deal with when that time comes. One team they won’t be dealing with is the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals are, after taking two of three from the White Sox this weekend, are now 61-75. That is a terrible record and they are 17.5 games behind the White Sox for first place in the American League Central. They are either going to come in last place or second to last place.

That is good news for the White Sox. For some reason, in most years, they struggle with Kansas City regardless of where either team sits in the standings. After the defeat on Sunday, the Royals took the season series 10-9. It was close but Kansas City took it by a slim margin. That season series might be the difference for the White Sox and their quest to have home-field advantage.

This game on Sunday showed exactly what it feels like to lose to the Royals. It was a dead game that had nothing good going for the White Sox. Salvador Perez did his thing again and is now right there with Jose Abreu in the chase for the most RBIs. Absolutely nothing seemed to go right for them in this season series.

Luckily, that is the end of it. The White Sox will no longer have to play them in the 2021 season. Now, the focus has to be getting everyone healthy and good to go for the playoffs. They don’t have much wiggle room when it comes to seeding but they do have some wiggle room in terms of the division title. The magic number to clinch that is 18.

It is nice that the Chicago White Sox are officially done with the Kansas City Royals.

The White Sox will continue the quest for their playoff berth with a quick turnaround this week. The Oakland A’s will be hosting them for a three-game set starting on Tuesday. The White Sox took care of them a couple of weeks ago but it will be a whole different animal over there in the Bay Area. Hopefully, the White Sox are able to get back on track in this one.

As the team tries to get its pitching rotation and bullpen as healthy as possible, it would be nice to see some big performances from the offense. This week is a good chance to do so against an A’s team that isn’t feeling too good about themselves right now. Luckily, the Royals are next year’s problem now.
