Don’t expect to see Romy Gonzalez for the Chicago White Sox in the playoffs.

The Chicago White Sox have had all sorts of great stories this season. Yermin Mercedes, Gavin Sheets, Jake Burger, and Billy Hamilton all have had heartwarming stories of perseverance throughout the season which is partially why the White Sox have been so good. With all of the injuries that they have sustained, you need guys like that.

Romy Gonzalez is the next guy in line for that type of story. He was made a September call-up when Tim Anderson went down because of how good he was in AAA. By the time Anderson is reinstated, Gonzalez might already be down which means he more than likely won’t be on the playoff roster. It has been fun to see him compete at the highest level but he isn’t one of those guys that will stick around for the postseason.

He was able to earn his first three MLB hits, an RBI, and a run scored which is nice for him but it hasn’t been enough to warrant a playoff roster spot. The best thing for him right now would be to work extremely hard all winter long and see what his next opportunity is. At a minimum, he showed that with a bit more growth to his game, he is worthy of having in your organization.
