Chicago White Sox: Actually outscore a Cleveland sports franchise

The Chicago White Sox were not the only team in town playing against a Cleveland sports franchise. The Chicago Bears were taking on the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland at the same time that the White Sox were playing the Cleveland Indians there. It is some smart scheduling by both leagues as there were lots of Chicago fans spending their money in Cleveland.

Unlike the Chicago Bears and their terrible offense, the White Sox were able to score enough to defeat the Cleveland Indians. In their last ever game against the White Sox with the name “Indians”, they were defeated by a final score of 5-2.

Lucas Giolito started the game for Chicago and he was really good. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout baseball where he had six strikeouts. He threw exactly 100 pitches and was extremely efficient with his throws.

He made sure that the Cleveland lineup couldn’t get much going at all so the White Sox took their third game of the five-game set. Michael Kopech, Garrett Crochet, Craig Kimbrel, and Liam Hendriks did a great job closing things out when Giolito came out after six. When the bullpen backs up the starter, the White Sox are hard to beat.

The Chicago White Sox played well on Sunday in every area of the game.

The White Sox scoring five runs and winning the game is a good sign. Seeing multiple players like Yasmani Grandal, Leury Garcia, and Yoan Moncada all have multi-hit games is great, especially since there were plenty of RBIs and runs scored to go with it. Combining that offense with great pitching is the recipe for success when October begins.

The White Sox are going to give certain players rest on certain days which is important. They need to make sure that they are ready once the postseason comes along while also making sure that they are healthy. The way that Tony La Russa has been handling this is very nice to see. This win over Cleveland was very important after taking a very annoying loss on Saturday night.

The White Sox were supposed to have Monday off but now it is going to be used as a makeup date. They will head back to Detroit to make up that third game that was rained out on Wednesday. They no longer need it as a potential clinch game as they took care of that in Cleveland. They do, however, need to keep playing well.

Detroit has been a much better team in the second half of this season. The White Sox would like to play well against them in this makeup game. They also have them next weekend as well which is important because it is their last series before the postseason. Yes, the Bears also play the Detroit Lions which is kind of funny. Hopefully, each of them plays to their potential and finds ways to win against a team they are much better than.
