The Chicago White Sox should want Carlos Rodon back in the 2022 rotation.

Carlos Rodon has come a long way in a year. If you said after 2020 that we would be begging to have him back after 2021, you would sound kind of funny. The White Sox let him go early last offseason and then brought him back later on a much cheaper deal. He also had to win the spot as the 5th starter out of spring training.

Not only did he beat out Reynaldo Lopez for that fifth spot, but he also became one of the team’s best pitchers. He was healthy for most of the year (compared to the recent years of missing tons of games) and that allowed us to see the stuff that made him a former third overall pick. His velocity was in the upper 90s and he mixed in some very nasty breaking stuff.

Now, Rodon is a free agent that is free to sign wherever he wants. His agent is Scott Boras so you know that things might get iffy. The White Sox are going to do everything that they can to bring him back on a fair deal and all we can do is hope that Rodon accepts. If he comes back next year and has another good year, they will have a really good rotation once again.
