The Chicago White Sox has a manager in Tony La Russa. He just finished his first season with them this season and it was a major success. They went 93-69 and cruised to a Central Division title.

Nobody is complaining about that but they did get dominated by the Houston Astros in the American League Division Series. There are some things to fix in order to reach that level. There is a long way to go but that is a story for another day.

Before the White Sox hired La Russa, some people really wanted them to consider Ozzie Guillen following the firing of Rick Renteria. That, obviously, did not happen and it doesn’t seem like it will anytime soon. However, Guillen might be returning to a managerial position sooner than later.

It came out on Tuesday afternoon that Ozzie has been interviewed to be the new San Diego Padres coach. They fired Jayce Tingler after a very disappointing 2021 season. They went into the season as one of the legit World Series favorites and had a late-season collapse.

Former Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen deserves another managerial opportunity.

The Padres are a very good team. There might be some White Sox fans who dislike them because of Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. being there but that is old news now. The White Sox are doing just fine without those guys. It would be cool to go see Guillen have some success with one of the bright young teams.

Not only do they have those star MLB players, but they also have some really good prospects that could take big steps soon. Ozzie Guillen is the perfect manager for a team like that looking to advance to the playoffs next season and maybe go far.

The 2005 Chicago White Sox were one of the best teams in the history of the franchise. They went 11-1 in the postseason which is a record that may never be broken. They would not have done any of that without the help of Ozzie Guillen as the manager. He knew how to put everyone in a position to succeed and get the most out of each player.

If he gets hired, White Sox fans should be rooting for him. They are in the National League so they barely will ever impact each other and it would be so fun to watch. The only downside would be that they don’t have him on pregame or postgame anymore but Ozzie deserves this in every way.
