The Chicago White Sox has some outstanding pitchers in the organization right now. At the MLB level, starters like Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech, and Dallas Keuchel will be in the mix for the rotation. There are also some bullpen arms in Garrett Crochet and Reynaldo Lopez that want to be starters as well.
With all of that said, the White Sox might be in trouble if they don’t bring back Carlos Rodon. It was a luxury to have four pitchers that can dominate with power in 2021. Not having that in 2022 might be an issue unless they address it.
They could bring someone else in to replace Rododn if he leaves to go to another team but it would be nice to have him back. He was brilliant last year after going through some struggles earlier in his career.
We all know by now about his injuries and inconsistencies that led to the White Sox cutting him after 2020 before ultimately bringing him back ahead of 2021. He showed everyone why he was a number three overall pick in the MLB Draft this year as he was in a good spot for the first time in his career.
Carlos Rodon coming back to the Chicago White Sox would be magnificent.
He went from competing for the fifth starter role to fifth in the Cy Young Award race. Losing a guy with talent like that who also has this outstanding story would be awful. If they can do anything to bring him back, they should do it.
For Rodon, it would also be smart on his part to return as well. This team was loyal to him through thick and thin. He also probably wants a chance to pitch on a good team which is exactly what he would get with the White Sox.
He could go to the Chicago Cubs or New York Yankees and make a lot of money but he wouldn’t be on as good of a team. A rotation with him back in it and the addition of Michael Kopech would really help the team take another step. They are probably going to be more prolific offensively as well so it could be a powerhouse team if the pitching matches. Come back, Carlos!
