The Chicago White Sox is a very good baseball team. They had a 93-69 record because their roster is awesome. That also came with significant injuries to significant players that affected them all season long. They were pretty much right there all season long with the best teams in the American League which is very good for them.

After seeing them have a good year through the 60 games in 2020, we needed to see another step in 2021 as the rebuild is truly over. However, they were humbled well in the postseason once they ran into the Houston Astros.

Of course, the Astros have an impressive run going right now. They won the World Series in 2017 and the AL Pennant later in 2019 and 2021. There are a couple of other ALCS appearances in there as well. The White Sox can only hope to get on their level.

In that playoff series, the White Sox needed an unlikely (and electric comeback) in order to win a single game. Outside of that, the Astros took care of them with ease. They were smarter and more prepared and it showed.

The Houston Astros are a big hurdle for the Chicago White Sox in 2022.

The young White Sox roster is going to learn a lot from that series. Unfortunately, the Astros are going to continue being a problem. They have already survived the cheating scandal which cost them their coach and GM. Gerrit Cole and George Springer are both gone via free agency and that hasn’t hurt them too much either. Losing Carlos Correa when the lockout ends won’t hurt them too bad either.

Those are all elite players that helped the team win but they keep replacing them with high-quality young players. With that in mind, expect the Astros to be really good once again in 2022. A division title and deep postseason run are now just expected there.

Don’t expect the White Sox to take them lightly either. Those players in the White Sox clubhouse are still mad about what happened. It isn’t sitting well with them at all this offseason. They know how good that the Astros are going to be again and they will be ready.

2022 is a big year for the white sox because they really want to prove that they are worthy of being mentioned amongst the elite in the American League. Hopefully, the Houston Astros aren’t as much of a problem for the White Sox in 2022 as they were in 2021. If they aren’t, some big things might be ahead on the south side.
