3. Pitching
The Chicago White Sox could really use some more pitching this season.
The reason that pitching is considered the third most pressing need is the fact that every team in baseball needs it. The White Sox probably had the best pitching in 2021 along with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers yet all of those teams could use more arms.
Going into 2022, the White Sox have Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease, and Lance Lynn as their top three starters. The plan is to transition Michael Kopech back into being a starter while Dallas Keuchel and Reynaldo Lopez remain options.
Kopech will certainly have somewhat of an innings limit and both Keuchel and Lopez can fill in when needed but they shouldn’t be considered locks to make it. With that in mind, they should really consider going out to add another good starting pitcher.
Starters aren’t where it should end either. Michael Kopech leaving the bullpen for the rotation creates a hole that they are hoping they can fill with Garrett Crochet. Add Liam Hendriks, Craig Kimbrel, Aaron Bummer, and Kendall Graveman to the mix and you have a really good bullpen but they need more.
If they can find any more pitching either by trade or free agency, they would be wise to go for it. Thier old friend Carlos Rodon is still very much available as well and it would be amazing to see him return. Hopefully, all of these needs get addressed ASAP.
