Things were going great for the Chicago White Sox during their Sunday spring training game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Luis Robert had two home runs, Tim Anderson had three hits, and a big lead had everyone feeling good. That was until Andrew Vaughn hurt himself.

Vaughn went to make a diving catch in right field, a position that he is not used to playing at all. The White Sox have yet to address that spot so Vaugh could see some time there if his injury isn’t too bad. He looked incredibly unnatural trying to make that diving catch.

Nothing seemed to twist the wrong way or anything like that but he definitely ran towards the ball and dove in an awkward motion. He made the nice catch but there was nothing graceful about it. It is a shame that they are thinking about having two first baseman platoon right field.

Vaughn was taken off by a cart which is never a good sign. Hopefully, it was just the necessary precautions taken by a team during spring training so that nothing worse can come from it. At the plate up to that point, Vaughn had a walk and a run scored. Micker Adolfo replaced him in the field and in the nine spot of the batting order.

The Chicago White Sox are hoping that Andrew Vaughn is okay and not hurt.

He was an outstanding rookie in 2021. He had to play left field for most of the season due to the injury to Eloy Jimenez and he did great. He doesn’t look as comfortable in right, however, as he does in left. Getting his bat in the order is important but he would be better served as a DH.

It will be interesting to see if the White Sox make a move following this injury. Even if it is a scare, it would be better for them to actually have a right fielder playing right field. There are still some options out there on the free-agent or trade market to consider as options as well.

Based on what Vaughn showed with his bat last season, we know that he can be a very impressive hitter. The White Sox need that in their lineup so we can only hope that he is okay at this point.
