3 crazy Chicago White Sox trade packages for Sean Manaea
The Chicago White Sox are going into the 2022 season with a brilliant rotation. Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease, and Michael Kopech are for sure going to be in the rotation. Dallas Keuchel and Reynaldo Lopez are also hoping to crack it at some point.
Keuchel has the inside chance of winning that fifth spot going into the year but anything can happen. Kopech is also going to likely be on an innings limit which makes things interesting for them as they have some decisions to make.
It would really help them out a lot if they were able to add another very good starter to the rotation right now. It would really help them with their depth and give them an out if some of these fringe guys don’t work out well.
There are a few good options out there on the trade market but not many are as good as Sean Manaea of the Oakland Athletics. He is very good and would make an amazing middle-of-the-rotation guy for the White Sox in a contention year. He would be an ace on a lot of teams.
The A’s are having a fire sale as they rebuild their roster and Manaea is probably the next to go. We have seen the White Sox make trades for pitchers in the recent past and this one would be one of the good ones to go after.
He has outstanding stuff that would fit in well with the likes of Giolito, Lynn, Kopech, and Cease. He would also add another left-handed pitcher to the mix which would give the White Sox some much-needed diversity. These three trades could get it done:
The Chicago White Sox might need to give up a good player to land Sean Manaea.
Sean Manaea would fit in so perfectly in the Chicago White Sox rotation. At the start, he would probably slip in as the number four which would take so much pressure off some of the other players that are there at the bottom of the rotation.
If Cease and Kopech had good years with Manaea in the mix, it could be a team loaded with ace-level talent on the staff. That would really help them in their quest to win the division and make a deep run in the postseason.
Sometimes you need to give up some nice players in order to get a pitcher like that. Gavin Sheets are exactly that for the Chicago White Sox right now. They are each at different points in their careers but could each be a part of the solution in Oakland.
Sheets is a power-hitting lefty that made his MLB debut in 2021 out of nowhere. He is, if not moved, going to have a pretty big role with the White Sox in 2022. Knowing that fact, the A’s should really see him as an attractive piece.
For Kelley, he is a top White Sox pitching prospect that is going to take some time which is perfect for what Oakland is trying to do. He could turn into a really good pitcher one day with that stuff but where will the White Sox be when it does happen?
The Chicago White Sox should be all in on winning the World Series in 2022.
The Chicago White Sox are so good. They have a very good chance to win the World Series in 2022 and need to do everything that they can to give themselves the best chance. Adding another very good starter like Sean Manaea could be one of the biggest things that they do for themselves.
Giving up Jake Burger and Wes Kath is less than ideal in terms of their farm strength but it would be amazing for their MLB roster. They should absolutely consider it if the A’s are going to go through with trading Manaea. With some of the other moves that they already made this year, it doesn’t appear that they will be (or should be) done.
Kath is a third baseman that has a long way to go before he makes it to Major League Baseball. He was drafted in the second round (57th overall) by the White Sox in the 2022 MLB Draft. The high ceiling is there but he has to work on his raw abilities in the Minor Leagues for a while.
Jake Burger is a sensational story. His injuries have caused his development to be a bit slower than everybody else’s and that is okay. He is still going to be a really good baseball player for a long time.
Unfortunately, the White Sox infield appears to have no room for him so it would be better for everyone involved if he is traded. If he went to the A’s, he would get a lot of playing time to work on his skills and reach his true potential. A trade like this would be a win-win for everyone.
The Chicago White Sox really needs to add another great starter to the mix.
Adding another great starter to the MLB roster is going to be tough for Rick Hahn. If it comes via a trade, he is going to have to say goodbye to a few good players in the process. That is what it takes to win in Major League Baseball these days. The best teams make big trades all the time.
In a way, the White Sox are built on trades. Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease, and Michael Kopech were all acquired via trade. Three of those four were developed by the White Sox into what they are today but it is still a rotation built on acquiring good players from other teams.
That is why allowing Norge Vera and Romy Gonzalez to go to the Oakland A’s is a good idea for the White Sox. Vera is a great young pitcher that has a few years before he reaches the MLB while Gonzalez can play in the big leagues this year. The A’s are going to be bad so that gives them time to see how these guys play in the MLB sooner than contenders.
We have no clue if the White Sox are going to be brave enough to pull off a move like this but it would be in their best interest. It would be awesome to see him in a White Sox uniform this season as they have big-time dreams in 2022.
