The Chicago White Sox are finally in the win column for the 2022 MLB season. After their disaster of an ending to the Opening Day game, they came out ready to go. With their team a lot short of full strength, they came out ready to go.
They went out there and scored two runs in the top of the first thanks to some damage done by the big guns. Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, and Jose Abreu were all outstanding in order to get them to that 2-0 lead.
Dylan Cease took the mound with a lead and performed admirably. He went 5.0 full innings where he allowed 0 runs and had eight strikeouts. It was as good of a season debut as you can expect from him as he looks to take another huge step this year. He looked like an ace in this one and could be for a long time.

Yasmani Grandal is officially on the board with a home run as his big blast provided some insurance later in the game. Even when the Detroit Tigers made it 4-2, they didn’t quit with the offense as they produced another run to make it 5-2 which would stick as the final score.

Even though it was only the second game of the season, it was important for the White Sox to come out with a win here. The way that the first game ended made it where they needed a win bad in the early going.
The Chicago White Sox finally earned their first win of the 2022 season.
The good thing is that the big guns that the White Sox have healthy are going strong. Cease was outstanding and their top hitters are producing a lot early. If they can keep this up, they will weather the storm that the injuries are causing.
If they can continue to play like that for the rest of April with these injuries, they will be just fine. The rubber match for this series will come on Sunday when Michael Kopech takes the ball for the first time this season. He will face the lefty, Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers.
The White Sox can take this series if they continue to play well against lefties as they have for the last few years. Hanging on to this lead was amazing to see and now they have their first win of the season with a chance to take their first series of the season. This is going to be a fun year.
