The Chicago White Sox are hosting the Los Angeles Angels this weekend. Despite little to no playoff success during this era, they are one of the most exciting teams in the league. Of course, that is because of some elite talent that they have at the top of their roster.

They have Shohei Ohtani who is an incredible hitter that is also an ace-level pitcher. In 2021, he had one of the best single seasons in the history of Major League Baseball as he was a 40 home run hitter in a year that he had ace pitching numbers.

They also have other studs like Anthony Rendon, Taylor Ward, and Jared Walsh amongst others in the lineup that make them dangerous. However, for the last decade or so, the team starts and ends with Mike Trout.

Trout is one the greatest baseball players that ever walked planet earth and that is no exaggeration. Everyone who is a fan of this game should really hope that the Angels one day eventually help this man get into the postseason.

On Saturday, however, we saw a little bit of the human side in him. He isn’t the face of baseball despite being the best because he isn’t that vibrant of a personality which is completely okay. He shows up, mashes baseballs, plays sweet defense, and goes home.

It is nice to see some of that personality a little bit though. In a game where he wasn’t at his best (he went 0-4), we saw him crack a smile and make light of a really funny situation involving the weather.

Vince Velasquez and Mike Trout had a really fun exchange during the game on Saturday.

As everyone knows, the rain was coming down harder and harder during a 6th inning at-bat between him and Vince Velasquez. After foul ball after foul ball, the count got to 2-2. It was a really intense sequence in the game but the home plate umpire called for a rain delay right in the middle of this at-bat.

It was clear that right after it happened, both guys were annoyed with the decision. Neither of them looked like they wanted to leave the field until the score was settled despite being drenched in rain.

It was really cool to see two complete gamers go at it like that and then smile about it once the heat was off. These guys are all human that just wants to make their way in the game. It was a cool moment between a superstar and a pitcher trying to show his stuff. It is a shame that we will never know how that at-bat would have finished.
