The Chicago White Sox announce some huge roster moves on Monday
It is a great day for the Chicago White Sox. They made some big roster moves that are going to help them keep the winning going. It is already a team on a six-game winning streak so adding more good players is surely going to help them.
They announced on Monday that they have placed LHP Aaron Bummer on the Injured List and optioned INF Jake Burger to AAA Charlotte. In their places, they have called up RHP Joe Kelly and INF Yoan Moncada.
This is huge for a variety of reasons. For one, Yoan Moncada is a huge piece of this team. He is going to be the everyday third baseman that provides a very unique offensive skill set. He can hit for power from time to time but he works counts and gets on base a lot.
He also plays Gold Glove third base. This will provide a major spark to the lineup as he will probably bat second in the order that desperately needs him there. Jake Burger has had some big moments in the early going but heading back to AAA will help him even more. He will be back.
The Chicago White Sox are adding two very good players back from injury.
Joe Kelly was signed as a big reliever in the offseason that will really strengthen their bullpen. He also has a ton of experience playing in big games as his two most recent teams are the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox.
Aaron Bummer has had his struggles but we know that he has outstanding stuff in that arm of his. He just needs to work on himself during his IL stint and come back ready to go. When he is on his game, he is one of the better left-handed relievers in the entire league.
The White Sox got better today. They added back a very steady bat and a very good relief pitcher. Getting from the starting pitcher to the closer is going to be a lot easier with Joe Kelly in the mix. It should be a lot of fun to watch.
This is almost the complete White Sox team. They need to get Bummer back along with Lance Lynn, Eloy Jimenez, and Andrew Vaughn. Once they do, this team will be ready to go. The time to win is now.
