This would be a great draft option for the Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox have done mostly well in the recent MLB Drafts. There have been a couple of misses but most of their recent picks have done at least something in Major League Baseball. They are hoping for that to be the case once again in 2022.

There are a lot of good options for the White Sox when they come up to pick at 26. One option to consider is former Vanderbilt stud Kumar Rocker. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft but he did not sign. Now, he is back for the draft.

Before the draft, Rocker signed to play independent league baseball with the Tri-City Valleycats of the Frontier League. This is where he has a chance to prove that he is healthy and good enough to impress some MLB scouts.

If he falls to the White Sox at 26, they should absolutely consider him. He had a lot of hype going into the 2021 Draft before some health and velocity issues made him fall to the Mets and ultimately not sign with them.

The Chicago White Sox could use a starting pitching prospect like Kumar Rocker.

Between Rocker and his teammate Jack Leiter, Vanderbilt’s starting rotation was elite in the College Baseball world. Leiter went in the top five of the 2021 draft to the Texas Rangers and he should be a great MLB pitcher. Hopefully, regardless of where he goes, Rocker follows his lead.

Rocker would join an organization starving for some prospect pitching depth. According to MLB dot com, the White Sox only have three pitching prospects in the top ten of their organization. Norge Vera is ranked 5th, Jared Kelley is ranked 9th, and Matthew Thompson is ranked 10th.

If they added an arm like Rocker to the mix and he pitched to his full potential, it could prove to be a great pick for the White Sox. He is someone who could bring a nice pitch of mixes to a starting rotation filled with power pitchers.

He also might be closer to being MLB ready than some of the other prospects that will be available to the White Sox. It might be something to consider for Rick Hahn and his staff if he is on the board at the 2022 MLB Draft at pick 26.
